Windsor Country Golf Club

The last 20 years have seen significant changes to the club and the course. Some original greens have been systematically replaced, fairway watering introduced, ornamental garden beds planted and massive tree planting programmes implemented.

Over forty years later many foundation members still play regularly in competitions and give service on committees. The disastrous floods are a distant memory, membership is nearly at maximum with Saturday fields regularly exceeding 240 players.

The course is a challenge to players of all levels and represents a magnificent legacy to the Hawkesbury district.

Members and visitors are always welcome for a round and a beer afterwards.

Wisemans Ferry Golf Club

Wisemans Ferry Golf Club is a picturesque 9 hole par 34 golf course which lies along the banks of the Hawkesbury River surrounded by four national parks. Its tree-lined fairways place a premium on accuracy and the alternative tees provide added challenges for the back 9.

Wisemans Ferry Golf Club gives you the opportunity to master the green in the picturesque surrounds of the Hawkesbury River Region, conveniently close by to Sydney.

The 2,168 metre golf course was designed by Terry Watson and Norm Carr to be enjoyed by golfers of all standards, but its numerous bunkers, water hazards and of course nature itself, command focus for even the experienced golfer.

Although the course is flat and an easy walk, golf carts are available. Clubs and trolleys can also be hired from the golf shop. If you are looking to escape the city the club is only an hour’s drive north of Sydney.

The golf course is open to non-members.

Wollongong Golf Club

Established in 1897, a decade before electricity came to Wollongong, the Club has the triple rare distinction of being one of the oldest in Australia, a true Links layout with its 18 holes on or alongside the beach dunes, and still largely on its original site in the heart of the city.

Today the state-of-the-art clubhouse, opened on 14th November 2005, caters for member’s golfing requirements and is able to provide a high standard of service for all types of functions – and can accommodate guests in the 4-Star, AAA rated Best Western City Sands that offers 20 apartment style rooms within the Clubhouse complex.

“The WGC has been host to world famous stars and home to numerous State and National champions”

World-famous stars have played and praised Wollongong’s features. They include Carnegie Clark, Gene Sarazen, Bobby Locke, Gary Player and Peter Thompson. Steve Elkington was a member of Wollongong in 1980-81 and Brad McIntosh (current holder of Australian professionals’ record low score of 59) won his first of 4 Wollongong 72 holes Championships as a 13 years old.

Wollongong golfers who gained State and/or Australian honours are far too numerous to be noted here. However, exceptional among them are Keith Pepper, Rory Slade and Lynne Townsend. Keith aged 90 has won over 50 Open events and Rory has a similar total including a record 15 Club single and over 20 other Club titles. Apart from victories elsewhere Lynne is listed more than 40 times on Club Championship boards.
