CALLAWAY CHALLENGE UPDATE $2’500
Before I get to the update, thank you to all those who used the new mobile number to let me know about the site. One special mention though is to REV who ordered two Mexican Pizzas via SMS and got sent two Mexicans to revoke his phone privileges!
Last weeks’ carry over Cinderella Fella in line to win the trip to the Callaway factory was SOS with a winning margin of 5. This week he’s been toppled by BENNY. Benny is in C Grade but still managed to win a Stroke pot (with more than 4 players) by 9 shots!
He scored one under his handicap and beat CAPTAIN who was in second place with 8 over his handicap. Now if you think that it’s too tough a task to win by 10 shots/points in a pot, to take the lead then think again! One of the biggest margins we have had to date has been 15 strokes/points at the end of last year.
I can see the A and B Graders cringing at the thought of someone outside their grade winning it (and the C Graders cheering) as I write this, so get into the pots. I am sure this is not the last chapter of who will be the Golf Cash Cinderella Fella and get fitted out in the Callaway Factory!
Other scores of note came in from BOOROLA and COOKY who scored 43 and 42 points off the stick and still won the pots after having 3 deducted for course ratings!
Please note that you should check the pots by clicking on the ID numbers before entering them as I have accidentally opened a few that are the same. If I see two players in separate $10 pots I will put them in the same pot.
Please remember to edit your scores and send in your victory stories. Get into those Daily pots to see if you can out play BENNY!
Callaway Prize $2’500
If you can win a Daily pot with more than 4 players before the end of November it could be you walking into the Callaway Factory to get fitted for a new set of clubs!

Wow! What a round of golf…….and I am not talking about the PGA Championships where Dustin Johnson grounded his club in a bunker and didn’t get into the play off, which was won by golfs equivalent of Michael Shumacker any way.
I’m talking about the leader on Golf Cash, in line to win the Callaway Prize – which is a visit to the Callaway factory to get fitted out with a new set worth $2500.
Let me ask you a question before I tell you what happened on the weekend. Have you ever won anything at your club for shooting 3 over your handicap? I heard that as a resounding NO!
In one of the weekend pots the best score to come in was a +3. The Golf Cash member won a small $100 but still, where else could you win $100 for shooting +3? But wait….
The exciting part of it was that in order to win the Callaway prize worth $2500, members on Golf Cash have to win pots, as this player did. He beat 5 other golfers who were all playing at different clubs and picked up the $100 as I said, but the player who came second was at +8. Now this means that Mr +3 has won a pot, (a requirement to win the prize) and has the largest win gap to second place (5 shots). It means that if no one else wins a pot by a bigger margin that 5 before the 30th November that a score of 33 Stableford Points or +3 in Stroke terms will win a prize valued at $2500! Now that is exciting!

Could this man be the winner of the PGA Championships?
Perhaps not as he is my father! Even though he is at one of the harder holes at Whistling Straits Golf Course where the competition is under way, I know how the old bloke plays. Off a handicap of 23 he is dangerous but he still maintains his handicap is 18. Not sure how they work out handicaps in Asia where he lives but I am positive it is NOT 18. He will give all 1 foot putts and expect you to give him 2 foot putts in return. I think it’s common practice at his club to never actually finish a hole. While the older men in village where the golf course is located work behind the bar, they send there wives out to caddy! Now thats a bit rich.
He has almost got a hole in one 234 times had nearly 400 birdies (remember I said they give each other putts, that’s why nearly) and will play 3 times a week if work permits.
I love playing with him and I am sure he will now tell me he parred this hole in the picture. A golfer who might not win this weeks PGA Championships, but a champion golfer anyway. Love you dad.

……if you can beat Jason Bohn’s lowest round of the tournament! It is obviously their pick to win the PGA Championships, so let’s take a look why? After all if he shoots +10 and +10 in the opening two rounds it looks like Golf Cash will be forking out a lot of dough rei me to all the members who participate!
He’s made 12 cuts out of the 18 tournaments he’s played in this year winning the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. His driving accuracy is 5% above the tour average which is significant, as all the other Major winners were int he same category leading into a major. His scoring average is one shot better than the tour average, and his putts per round are also under the tour average.
I can see why he might be the one to put in a super round, but can he do it 4 times in a row and win the whole thing? Well as far as the Golf Cash offer goes…he only needs to do it once in their eyes! Hopefully on the first day!
Let’s wait to see what unfolds!

NO CLEAR FAVORITE: Tiger’s not playing like Tiger. Phil Mickelson‘s not in top form, either. And Lee Westwood‘s not even here. Those are the world’s top-ranked players … and those are the reasons why the expectations of a breakthrough major winner are so high going into Thursday’s opening round at Whistling Straits.

“There’s going to be a lot of guys here thinking that it’s the right time for them to break through, and I’m definitely one of those guys,” said Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, who captured his first PGA TOUR win earlier this year at the Wells Fargo Championship. “And you can never write the likes of Tiger and Phil off. But I definitely think … (other players have) a better chance coming into this event with those two guys not playing great and Lee obviously not playing.”
England’s Paul Casey said it wouldn’t matter even if Woods and Mickelson were in peak form. The talent level on the PGA TOUR, as well as in Europe, has made things much more equitable.
“Even when you get these guys, Phil and Tiger, playing great golf, we now are at a level where we can compete with them,” Casey said. “Maybe not day-in, day-out, as consistently, but when we are on our best, we can certainly win tournaments when they are in the field.”

I’m always slightly disappointed when the
PGA Championship rolls around. It is only August and it means this is the end of the four majors for the year. I’d always prefer they spaced them out a little more. Sure, we have the FedEx Cup playoffs on the horizon but if I’m going to get out of bed at 4am, I want it to be a major.
